As an aspiring nurse anesthetist, Sarah Crawford recently took advantage of an opportunity to shadow current professionals in the field at a local surgical center. Those who know her best believe that it’s a perfect career for her because of her family background in health care and her compassionate nature, but the idea was to find out for sure if it’s a good fit before beginning the arduous process toward getting certified.
In the middle of one of the procedures she was observing, a loud noise filled the room and the medical staff instantly assumed that Crawford had fainted, as many of them had done on their first time in an operating room. But it was actually a piece of equipment that fell over — Crawford was just fine.
